Pine
PINE Pinus Radiata
Pinus Radiata grows throughout New Zealand and is by far the most freely available timber in the country.
Pinus Radiata is available in most sizes and long lengths of clear timber is always available.
The timber seasons and it can be kiln dried rapidly from green. It is non-durable but can be readily treated with preservative.
Pinus Radiata is a light coloured softwood and has a moderately even texture which machines and nails well. It sands to a fine finish that will take paint well. The wood can be stained but tends to blotch in places and raise the grain in the softer timber.
