Jarrah
JARRAH Eucalyptus Marginata
A tall slender tree found uniquely in the south western regions of Australia.
Colouring of Jarrah varies between pinkish and a rich dark red. As with all timber the colour becomes richer and deeper with age. Often there are dark brown radial flecks, which enhance its decorative appearance.
The timber is exceptionally hard, heavy, strong and tough. Generally the grain is straight but interlocking grain and gum pockets may be found in some boards.
The timber is very durable and highly resistant to decay, the heartwood is considered to be one of the world's most durable timbers.
Once dry Jarrah is very stable.
It will take both natural finishes and paints well.
