Saligna
SALIGNA Eucalyptus Saligna (Sydney Blue Gum)
Saligna originated in Australia but has been well established in New Zealand for many years and is now widely distributed throughout the northern regions.
The wood ranges from a dark pink to a red brown colour. The grain is straight or slightly interlocking and has a moderate to course texture.
Saligna is generally quarter sawn which means it has a straight grain pattern on the face of the board. Quarter sawn timber is very stable and very rarely will any cupping be found.
It sands to a fine finish and takes stain or paint well.
